The Storm Prediction Center has placed central and southern Maryland along with the Delmarva under a slight risk of severe weather. The recent oppressive heat and humidity have helped in fueling the atmosphere and making it pretty unstable. That, along with a weak cold front is coming. This all added together gives enough push to allow for the sparking of some strong to severe storms later this afternoon. The biggest risk is the wind, these storms may cause damaging wind gusts and some weak downbursts (basically, more wind).
Here are your risk factors:
- Wind: 4/10
- Hail: 0/10
- Tornado: 0/10
- Watch Issuance: 4/10
- MWC Nowcasting: Possible
So to conclude, it will be by no means a repeat of June 1. Yet this will help provide a good light show and give our starving plants a very good drink.
More details and analysis will be available on MWC Facebook
