Strong bow-echo storm system moving east | Josh Owens.
UPDATED 5:27 (Old discussion text with line | Updated in italics)
The Storm Prediction Center has placed western and parts of central Maryland under a slight risk of severe weather the majority of the state of Maryland and long with parts of Garrett county under a moderate risk. The oppressive heat and humidity are helping in fueling the atmosphere and making it pretty unstable, along with a system moving from the west to provide a trigger. This all added together gives enough push to allow for the sparking of some strong to severe storms later this afternoon as the system moves through. The biggest risk is the wind as the storms move through. We have high expectations that the derecho/MCS system moving to the east, will survive the pass over the mountains and give our area very strong winds, possible hail, and even a brief spin up.
Here are your risk factors:
- Wind:
3/107/10 - Hail:
0/103/10 - Tornado:
0/101/10
- Watch Issuance:
3/106/10 - MWC Nowcasting: Possible
