Severe Risk for June 30

Scattered severe storms possible | Josh Owens

UPDATED 11:51am(Old | New)

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region under a slight risk of severe weather. Specifically, we have been placed in a 30% risk of high winds with a hatched area over central and southern Maryland. Another impulse will be making its way to our area and the hot soupy air we are in towards the late afternoon time frame, bringing with it a big chance for MORE strong and possibly destructive winds and heavy rain. While I do not think at this time it will be a Derecho like yesterday, I do know that when a storm comes across…the risk of more damage is possible in certain areas due to strong winds in storms. Small hail is also possible.
